This tournament was supposed to serve as an appetizer for the Australian Open but finally this WTA 500 will take place this time after the fortnight in Melbourne. Many players have withdrawn from the tournament, such as Brady, Andreescu and Azarenka. The rather heavy deadlines that arrive quickly like Doha and Dubai explain this choice. So some prefer to skip out knowing that we have players who are not yet 100% physically fit.
